A Downtown Charleston Elopement Straight Out of a Dream
Living in Charleston my entire life has been nothing short of magical. As a photographer for nearly half of it, I’ve always dreamed of capturing an elopement right in the heart of the city. So when Emma reached out about photographing her wedding, I was over the moon. I had no idea the day would unfold with old Hollywood glamour, 1920s nostalgia, and a hint of ghostly charm. It truly felt cinematic from beginning to end.
Pit stop at the Number one seller of PBR in the world: Recovery Room Tavern
One of the most memorable parts of their day was our stop at The Recovery Room, a dive bar filled with history for the couple. It’s the place where their story began. The moment we stepped inside, everything felt like a romantic indie film. They held cans of PBR, laughed their way through foosball and pool, and took candid shots in the retro photo booth.
They challenged each other to a playful arm-wrestling match, teased one another, and showed off at the pinball machine. As we moved through the bar, Emma and Jared told me the full story of how they met—the music that played, the nerves they felt, the spark they couldn’t ignore, and the exact table where their eyes first met. Even the regulars noticed the joy filling the room. Their smiles and whispers added to the charm, making the entire space buzz with excitement.
A Gathering of Family, Pizza and Wine, Lots and Lots of Wine.
To end the night, we headed to the wine bar where Emma works. It was the perfect nod to their shared love of wine and the memories they’ve created over their favorite bottles. Friends and family arrived in full Halloween costumes, which made the evening feel even more fun and personal.
Everyone gathered around local pizza, slices of cake, and glasses of wine that never seemed to empty. The room felt warm and alive with connection. Every toast carried genuine emotion. Every laugh felt like a reminder of the community surrounding this couple. Emma and Jared’s love of wine added another layer of intimacy, with each glass raised in honor of their past and all the dreams ahead.
Heartfelt speeches, inside jokes, and spontaneous bursts of laughter filled the night. These are the moments that remind you what weddings truly celebrate—love, authenticity, and the joy of being surrounded by your people.
