December in Charleston can be funny. Sometimes it actually feels like winter, and sometimes you get one of those warm beach days that feels like fall never left.
Britney and Myron’s proposal happened on one of those days.
The air was warm, the beach was quiet, and the light coming across the sand had that soft golden glow that makes Isle of Palms feel a little extra magical in the late afternoon.
But Britney had no idea that Myron had been planning something behind the scenes.
He coordinated with a few of her friends ahead of time to set up a picnic on the beach. The plan was simple. They would go for a walk along the shoreline and just “happen” to stumble across this setup waiting for them in the sand.
By the time they walked up, everything was already there. White flowers arranged around the blanket, lanterns and candles, a picnic basket, and a bottle of champagne sitting nearby waiting to be opened.
At first Britney looked a little confused, like she was trying to figure out if it belonged to someone else.
Then it started to click.

Before she could fully process what was happening, Myron dropped down on one knee.
Her reaction was the best kind of surprise. Hands over her face, laughing, a little bit in shock, and trying to take in the moment all at once.
And of course, she said yes.

What Britney didn’t know was that their whole group of friends had been hiding nearby in the dunes the entire time watching everything unfold.
As soon as she said yes, they all came running out of the dunes cheering and celebrating with them. It turned into this really fun, chaotic moment where everyone was hugging, laughing, and congratulating them all at once.
Honestly it made the moment even more special.
After the excitement settled down a bit, Britney and Myron sat down together at the picnic while the sun started dropping lower over the ocean.
The light was that perfect golden hour glow and the beach felt almost empty around them.
They popped the champagne that had been waiting in the setup and toasted to their engagement right there in the sand.
At one point they were both standing there cheering with the champagne bottle like they had just won the Super Bowl.
The energy was perfect.

Isle of Palms is such a great spot for proposals because it gives you a little bit of everything. You get open beach, pretty dunes, and some of the best sunset light around Charleston.
A lot of couples keep it simple and just go for a walk along the water before the proposal happens. Other times people plan something a little more intentional, like having a picnic or flowers waiting in the sand.
One of my favorite parts of Britney and Myron’s proposal was that their friends were secretly hiding in the dunes the entire time. As soon as Britney said yes they all ran out to celebrate with them, which made the whole moment feel even bigger and more fun.

Isle of Palms is one of my favorite spots around Charleston for surprise proposals. The beaches are wide, the dunes give you a little privacy, and sunsets there are always incredible.
If you’re thinking about proposing here, a simple plan like a walk on the beach works perfectly. Some couples also coordinate a picnic setup like Britney and Myron did, which makes the moment feel even more special.
A lot of proposals also turn into a celebration afterward with friends or family waiting nearby, which is exactly what happened here. Having their friends run out of the dunes right after Britney said yes made the whole moment even more emotional and special.
